General Foreman

Responsibilities:

The General Foreman (GF) is the first supervisory tier, ranking above workers but below managers and is responsible for the efficient scheduling, management, and coordination of subcontractor labor crews.  The General Foreman will have proven hands-on experience in several trades (e.g. carpentry, finishes, concrete, iron-work, plumbing, electrical, etc.).  The General Foremen will determine the priorities for work to be done based on the Project Master Schedules and as directed by the Project Manager and Project Superintendent.  The GF must determine whether subcontractors have the number of employees possessing the required skills for the job, verify that the needed equipment and materials are available and direct subcontractor employees on which tasks are to be completed first.
The General Foreman must have the ability to thoroughly understand and follow engineering design documents (i.e. drawings, specifications) and construction activities including, but not limited to:
  • Interprets, implements and enforces regulatory requirements related to safety, environmental and industry standards
  • Interprets plans, blueprints and sketches of proposed structures and systems in terms of the relevant specifications and installation
  • Prepares reports on project time, equipment, materials and progress
  • Complete review and understanding of subcontractors scope of work
  • Support the Project Superintendent in the coordination of safety meetings and provide direct instruction regarding safe work practices
  • Support the Project Superintendent with coordinating and scheduling of required project testing and certificates
  • Support the Project Superintendent on a daily basis regarding project progress, S/C performance, QA/QC
  • Complete “3-week look ahead schedule”  and update master schedule with PCM
  • Conduct daily field reports and documentation in Procore
  • Take responsibility for the planning, organizing and control of subcontractor personnel work activities
Minimum Requirements:
  • Minimum High School Diploma; some technical college or college degree preferred
  • Work experience as a tradesman in one or more construction trades with 10+ years of work experience
  • The ability to plan, organize, prioritize and schedule multiple work fronts and subcontractor crews
  • Excellent communication, planning and organization skills
  • OSHA 30 Certification – In depth knowledge of OSHA safety standards and procedures
  • Experience with the following software: Microsoft Office Suite, Procore
In addition to the above listed minimum requirements, candidates who possess the following skills, experience, and capabilities may receive greater consideration during the evaluation process:
  • Experience with Microsoft Project or Primavera (P6)
  • Experience with Sage/Timberline
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish)
